Who runs this site
- CADEMY is an independent learning site, not affiliated with Onshape or PTC.
- It is run by Tanishk Naik, who is responsible for your data and can be reached at tanishknaik1302@gmail.com.
What we store
- Your account: the name and email address you sign up with, and your password, which is stored only as a one-way hash and cannot be read back.
- Sign-in sessions: a random session token, when it was created and when it expires. We do not store your IP address or browser details with it.
- Settings: display name, units, typical session length, which items you want on your dashboard, and whether you have finished setup and been offered the tutorial (so it is offered only once).
- Learning records: the projects you start and complete, steps and checklist items you tick, measurements you enter, hints and solutions you open, quiz and placement answers, skill progress and achievements.
- Things you add: notes, bookmarks, Onshape document links you paste, portfolio entries with any screenshots you upload, and problem reports you send.
- An activity log: what you did and when, including when you signed in and when you accepted these terms.
- We ask only for what the site uses.
- To stop abuse, the site counts requests per account, or per network address for sign-in attempts and signed-out requests.
- Each counter holds only that key, a number and a time, restarts after at most an hour, and is not linked to your learning records.
What we do not do
- No analytics or tracking scripts, no advertising, no third-party cookies.
- No marketing email. The only email the site can send is a password reset you ask for.
- We never connect to your Onshape account or open your documents; we only keep links you paste.
- We do not sell or rent your data, or share it for anyone else's marketing.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you sign up for: keeping you signed in, saving your progress, recommending what to do next and showing your history.
- Rate limiting and sign-in records are kept to protect accounts and the site from abuse.
Who can see it
- You, when signed in.
- The site administrator can see a list of accounts with each email address, name, join date, last sign-in, number of sign-ins, number of projects completed and whether setup was finished. The administrator also reads problem reports you send, with your email so they can follow up, but does not see your notes, answers or portfolio through the site.
- The administrator also sees site-wide totals worked out from everyone's activity, such as sign-ups and active learners per day, projects started and completed, average quiz scores and placement results by level. These are counts and averages; they do not name anyone.
- The companies that host the site and its database store the data on our behalf, and, if password reset by email is switched on, an email delivery service receives your address to send the reset code. They may not use it for anything else.
- Anyone else only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- For as long as you have an account.
- Deleting your account removes everything listed above from the live database straight away.
- Copies in the hosting provider's backups expire on their normal schedule.
- Sessions end after 30 days, and password reset codes after 10 minutes.
Your choices and rights
- Get a copy: Settings → Your data → Download my data. It is a JSON file of your account, settings, learning records, activity, notes, bookmarks and portfolio entries; screenshots are listed by caption and id, and you can save the images themselves from your portfolio.
- Correct it: change your name, units and preferences in Settings.
- Delete it: Settings → Delete account. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
- For anything else, such as objecting to a use of your data, contact Tanishk Naik at tanishknaik1302@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Cookies
- The site uses a single cookie that keeps you signed in.
- One small setting stays in your browser only: your light or dark choice.
- Details are in the Cookie Policy.
Age
- You must be at least 13 to create an account.
- If you are under the age where you can consent to this yourself in your country, ask a parent or guardian first.
Changes
- If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
- If a change affects what we store or who sees it, we will say so on the site before it applies.
